If you ever want to experience thousands of the thirstiest beer geeks you have ever seen running the 100-meter sprint in world record time, all you need to do is get in the queue outside the Copenhagen Beer Celebration and wait for the doors to open. Amazing Stuff!
The CBC (Copenhagen Beer Celebration) organised by Mikkeller is one of, if not the premium beer festival in Europe especially when it comes the Craft side of the industry. It was such a great experience for me and the guys from Brickmakers and Charlie P’s to be part of it. (Luck of the Irish).
There was so much to try and after a few 15% ABV barrel-aged imperial stouts, tasting becomes a challenge but some beers just stick in your mind forever. To pick just one favourite is almost impossible but here are a few that I absolutely loved: De Garde – Saison Melange 3; Omnipolo /Buxton – Mango Smoothie IPA; Hill Farmstead – Arthur Saison; Firestone Walker/Duvel Moortgat – Velvet Merkin Stout and last, but certainly not least, Three Floyds – Alpha King Pale Ale (100 points on rate beer, just saying). Happy Days.
Big respect also goes to the up and coming Scandinavian breweries and, in particular, Ale Farm whose collaboration with Brewski called Elsinore (a sour Saison with blackcurrants) just blew me away.
For me, beer is not just about the flavour experience, it’s about the people whose passion and dedication drive our industry and are an inspiration to me on so many levels. It’s their strive for excellence while keeping their feet on the ground that keeps me coming back for more. I already can’t wait for next year’s CBC.
If you want to taste a selection of the beers that we brought back from Copenhagen including Three Floyds Alpha King Pale Ale, I will be trying a few next Monday 23rd of May at 18:30 in The Brickmakers. Please drop me a mail email@example.com if you want to come by. We only have a limited amount of these special beers so get your mails in early. I look forward to seeing for a beer in The Brickmakers.
